Directions
From the D.C. area
Take the Capital Beltway (I-495/95 S) or I-295 going south. From I-295 take exit 1A onto I-95 N/I-495 N/MD-210 toward Baltimore, follow signs for MD-210 S/Indian Head Hwy. From the Beltway, take exit 3 onto MD-210 S/Indian Head Hwy. Go approximately 9.2 miles. After you pass Farmington Road, you will take a right at the next stoplight onto Livingston Road, by B&J Carryout. (Please note that there are a few Livingston Roads, and you should turn only after passing Farmington Road). Drive one block and turn right on Biddle Road. At the stop sign, turn left on Bryan Point Road and follow 3.5 miles, keep right to stay on Bryan Point Road and into the park entrance.
From Route 301/Crain Highway
From Waldorf, turn onto Route 228 and follow seven miles to the end. Turn right (north) onto Indian Head Highway and move into the far left lane. Take the next left turn onto Livingston Road (look for B&J Carryout). Drive one block and turn right on Biddle Road. At the stop sign, turn left on Bryan Point Road and follow 3.5 miles, keep right to stay on Bryan Point Road and into the park entrance.
Parking and Accessibility
All visitors, including school buses, should follow the signs for visitor parking located near the Education Center.
Parking spaces designed to accommodate visitors with accessible needs are available. The distance from the parking lot to the Visitor Center is less than 300 feet, and the distance to the fishing pier is less than 500 feet. The distance from the parking lot to the boat dock is 1363 feet. The boat dock is not universally accessible. The grades are gradual, and the gravel pathways are relatively well packed.

Wheelchairs are available at the Visitor Center for temporary use by visitors with the park. Loans are first come, first served. A driver’s license or state ID is required.

Accessible restrooms are available at the Visitor Center and are open daily from dawn to dusk. Additional restrooms are available at the Education Center during special events and activities only.

Picnic grove
Pack a picnic or pick up lunch from the National Harbor or B&J's Carryout and enjoy the scenery in one of the park's picnic areas.

Piscataway Park Rules and Regulations

Piscataway Park is federally-owned property of the National Park Service and is operated and managed by the Accokeek Foundation (non-profit) through a cooperative agreement.

All park visitors are responsible for complying with park regulations and public law. Permit holders are also responsible for the conduct of the group and may be held liable for any damage to government property.

Piscataway Park is an alcohol-free park. Alcoholic beverages of all types are prohibited in the park without an appropriate special use permit, certificate of insurance, and alcohol license.

DJs or amplified music are not allowed in the park.

Amusements such as slides, space walks, pony rides, bouncy castles, and other activities that require a structure or use of animals will not be allowed in the park. Be sure to check with the park before arranging for any type of amusement service.

Open fires are prohibited. All fires must be contained using a portable firepit or charcoal grill, and fires must be extinguished before leaving the picnic area.

Portable, self-standing charcoal grills may be brought into the park and used in the picnic area.

Propane and tabletop grills are not allowed.

There is no electricity in the picnic areas.

Generators are only allowed by permit only and must conform to the safety regulations stated within the permit.

Dogs and other pets must be on a leash at all times. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.

Drivers must observe all traffic rules and drive carefully at all times. The maximum speed limit in the park is 15 mph.

Vehicles must stay on established roads and park only in marked spaces within designated areas.

Vehicle parking on the grass is not allowed and permit holders may be charged the cost of repairing any damage to lawn areas.

A permittee may NOT drive on the grass to unload/load.

Tables are not to be moved from one area to another. Each area has enough tables to accommodate the maximum capacity of the area.

Signs, banners, markers, or other devices are not to be attached to any tree, park sign, lamp post, fence or other structures. Self-standing signs may be used to identify the picnic group but must be removed before leaving the area. Balloons are not allowed to be placed or tied on any table or sign.

Screen-type tents or sun protection may be erected provided the structure is less than 15 feet long and 15 feet wide and stakes do not exceed 18 inches.

Any permitted picnic area use must be concluded before sunset. The park closes at dark, and gates are locked.
